We have all heard by now that we need to drink 6 – 8 glasses of water daily or half our weight in water and that our body is about 80% water. However, has this knowledge made us run to the nearest fountain to drink the required amount of water daily? Do we substitute our requirements of 6 – 8 glasses of fluid daily with 2 – 3 cups of coffee, 3 cans of diet soda and 2 glasses of Kool Aid or other sweet drinks? Well some may argue that “at least I am drinking something, I am not sick and I still have all the energy I had when I was a teenager.” The health professional may reason in turn that you are not now sick; you may push yourself to your limits as if you are a teenager–when you get going–after your morning coffee. However, this is much different from getting up and going without the coffee and retiring easily without a crash after the end of the day.
I hear many people say “if water tasted better they would drink it more”. Well my response to that is there are many things we must do that are unpleasant. Yet, we do them when we receive the proposed benefit. We mainly feel the effects of water when we are very dehydrated. Let us cut to the chase, pure water is God’s choicest blessing to us. Taken freely and properly used it will promote health and healing. Taken freely it will supply the necessities of the system and help to remove toxic waste. Water’s greatest benefit is to assist the body in resisting disease. Toxic waste buildup is the precursor to a diseased body and the removal of that toxic waste is the first step toward building health.
When we do not drink enough water we become dehydrated. A dehydrated body will manifest to a greater or lesser degree symptoms such as dry chapped lips, cracking skin, unclear thoughts, stress, depression, constipation, diabetes, high blood pressure, cracking joints, arthritis, angina pains, low back pain, asthma, allergies, overweight, headaches, dry eyes and digestive problems to name a few. So try it to refresh you, calm you and cool you down. It will give you energy and strength without the ill side-effects of medicine.
